Amongst librarians there is often a huge enthusiasm for cataloguing and promoting their institution’s Special Collections. With the modern technology that is now available to us there has never been a better time to reproduce rare materials and disseminate them to a global audience. Yet shrinking budgets and operational priorities often mean that there is little time to fully explore the potential that this technology allows.
So what does the future hold for our Special Collections?
Institutions in Aberystwyth house an almost unparalleled wealth of Special Collections material and it is therefore the ideal place for a LibTeachMeet and we are hoping to attract speakers from many of the town’s repositories.
So come to our LibTeachMeet at Hugh Owen Library, Aberystwyth University at 2pm on Wednesday 3rd June 2015 and tell us in 5 minutes about your experiences with Special Collections.
